SHUTTER ISLAND

Shutter Island is not your typical Martin Scorsese project. In fact, their were a handful of times throughout the movie where you’ll begin to question whether or not Scorsese even had a hand in it. The film had such a different feel than most of Scorsese’s previous projects, dealing a lot with mystery and psychological thrills. Their is no doubt that overall Shutter Island felt more like a Horror/Thriller than any other type of film, which is interesting when thinking of a “standard” Scorsese picture. This film was certainly an exploration for Scorsese, an interestingly original concept with twists, turns, and a rollercoaster ride of a story.  If you like pyschological movies, Shutter Island is a must see. The film manages to present an involving story with selectively placed horror, setting up an ending that will only become more satisfying with time. Their are times where dialogue is heavy and you have to keep up with the rush, but seeing the movie for a second time will be just as amazing and entertaining as the first.
